Metal roof cost, Alberta
What sets the price of an Interlock® aluminum roof in Alberta, and how to get a fixed price in writing after one visit.
We don't publish a price, and here's why
Two houses on the same street can differ a lot in roof area, pitch and what's underneath the old roof. A number on a web page would be wrong for most of them. One visit gets you a fixed price in writing for your house, and that's the number we stand behind.
What sets the price of a metal roof in Alberta
Roof area. The biggest single factor: the more square metres of roof, the more material and labour.
Pitch and complexity. Valleys, hips, dormers, skylights and chimneys each add flashing and time. Every Interlock profile needs a minimum 3/12 slope.
What comes off, and what's underneath. Cedar, concrete tile and natural slate always come off; a single layer of asphalt can be roofed over only if the inspection finds it suitable. The deck is checked, and anything that needs attention goes into the written quote, not into a change order later.
Profile. Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, Standing Seam and Solid Copper are priced differently; copper is usually a bay or porch rather than a whole house.
Options. The Class A fire-rated assembly (two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood), snow guards over entries, decks and walkways, and gutter work are priced as line items.
Access. Tight inner-city infill lots, steep or narrow driveways, condo and townhouse complexes, acreages at the end of a long gravel road and mountain homes in the Bow Valley change the logistics, and we plan them at the estimate.
What you're paying for
A roof made in Canada by Interlock Roofing Ltd., installed in Alberta by our own company since 1999, with the manufacturer's Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty (material and finish, for as long as the original purchaser owns the home, transferable once, workmanship excluded) and wind resistance warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification. Our own 10-year labour warranty covers the installation.
Financing
Financing is offered only as a promotion, and offers change. The current offer, when there is one, is on our financing page and the home page, with its terms.

Questions, answered
How much does a metal roof cost in Alberta?
It depends on your roof's area, pitch and complexity, what's underneath the old roof, the profile you choose and any options such as the Class A assembly. We give a fixed price in writing after one free visit. Call (587) 317-6517 to book it.
Is the estimate really free?
Yes. The visit and the written price are free, with no obligation.
Do you publish a price per square foot?
No. A per-square-foot number ignores pitch, complexity, what comes off and access, which is most of what moves the price on a real house. The written price after one visit is the number that counts.
Will a metal roof lower my home insurance?
Ask your insurer. Some insurers in Alberta take impact-resistant roofing into account and some don't, and terms differ from policy to policy. We don't promise a discount, and no roofer should.
Will the price change after I sign?
The price in writing is the price. If we find something at the visit that needs attention, it goes into that written quote before you sign.
A fixed price, in writing, after one visit.
